The production of the “very best” in the region has been the aim of agriculturalists on the Darling Downs since 1860, when the Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland was formed.

The importance of Toowoomba and the Downs in the national agricultural scene is gauged by the fact that the Toowoomba Royal Show was the first to be established in the newly formed state of Queensland and only the fifth in Australia.

Their vision, as is ours today, is the promotion of agricultural excellence through competition, education and entertainment whilst showcasing the qualities that make our community of Toowoomba what it is.

The Heritage Toowoomba Royal Show, our 152nd, will be held from the 07th – 09th April 2016. Competition will continue to be the core of the show. In excess of 15000 entries across 35 competition categories are expected at the 2016 show.

Although the show is the signature event for the Royal Agricultural Society, the Toowoomba Showgrounds also host over 400 events equating to almost 650 event days. It is estimated that events at the showgrounds contribute in excess of $60 million to the regional economy.

Annually, the RASQ contributes almost $300 000 to promote agriculture and provide assistance to many community organisations and not for profit groups to stage events and generate income.

From horses to home-grown produce, cattle to cakes, paintings to prime sheep, woodchoppers to woodcrafter, flowers to fine art and everything in between, our focus will be to provide local families with a unique show experience. Whether it be through education, show competition, great entertainment or sideshow alley rides and attractions, the 2016 Heritage Bank Toowoomba Royal Show will continue the tradition of “Showing the Downs” since 1860.
