Race name: Nottingham

Tommy is a 5 year old 15.2hh dark brown/black gelding out of Dick Turpin and Countess of Tiba.

In August 2021 he retired from racing sound after 3 starts. He started his retraining at Park View Drive Equestrian in September 2021.

Tommy is progressing well with his retraining. He is a very quiet horse easy to handle on the ground and good to do everything with. He paddocks well with other horses and on his own but really would not do well in a home with no other horses as he does need company.

He has a slight swing motion with his lower right front leg and whilst it does not overly affect him he probably would not suit the dressage or show arena. He enjoys his trail rides on his own or in company where although forward he is pretty easy going and not phased by much. He is coming along in all his 3 paces but can tend to ‘rush’ into some of his canter transitions but he is learning that he no longer has to go into canter like he is coming out of the barriers. As such he does need a confident capable rider as he is no plodder so not suitable for a beginner or nervous novice.

He has a lovely genuine personality and quiet nature and would make someone a super pleasure horse. He can occasionally crib (mainly when tied up) but it is not something he does very often so there have been no reasons to use any preventative measures.

He is up to date with his worming, teeth vaccinations and feet. He is expected to be available early November 2021.
