Before you advertise your horse for sale, take a look at these ways that you can both save yourself time and manage your time well when selling your horse.

Include All Basic Information in Your Ad

When you advertise your horse for sale, it’s best to disclose all major information that a potential buyer would want to know. Buyers will still contact you with questions, but rather than fielding dozens of questions asking about a horse’s show experience or sale price, you may want to include that information directly in the for sale ad.

Save All Correspondence

As you communicate with buyers, things can get confusing. It can be best to create a separate file for each buyer who appears serious, so you can keep track of what information you’ve discussed with each person. Additionally, if you are responding to questions via email, you may want to copy and paste your responses into a single document. You can refer to that document in the future if the same questions are asked by another buyer, and instead of needing to create new answers, you can simply copy and paste the answers you’ve already created.

Have Videos and Photos On Hand

Before you advertise your horse for sale, be sure that you have plenty of photos and videos ready to send to buyers. Buyers will almost always request additional photos and videos of the horse, so having these ready will help avoid your having to hurriedly take footage that may not be of a high quality. If potential buyers want to come and see your horse, schedule the trials so they are at times that are convenient for you. Take your own schedule, as well as your horse’s schedule, into consideration when scheduling trials. Disrupting your horse’s feed or turnout schedule may result in a grumpy or uncooperative horse, and scheduling a trial where you have to rush to the agistment after work will leave you frazzled. By scheduling trials carefully you’ll be able to make better use of the time.
