Shiney and Nu (imp)

Shiney and Nu (imp)

aka ‘Sam’ – was imported from the AmQHA all-time leading breeder of performance horses; Carol Rose Quarter Horses in Texas, USA and is by the legendary American Quarter Horse stallion Shining Spark (Genuine Doc x Diamonds Sparkle by Mr Diamond Dude).

Shining Spark is a US$3 million dollar NRHA sire and is the only US$3 million dollar NRCHA sire in America. Sam is out of Annies Nu Lena (Nu Cash x Lil Miss Smarty Chex by Smart Little Lena) who is also an accomplished performer in NRCHA and NRHA events. Further information for Shining Spark, Annies Nu Lena and Carol Rose Quarter Horses can be found at

Having started his education with Brent Loseke of The Colt Company located at the beautiful Green Valley Ranch; Sam was placed with superior horseman; Warren Backhouse, his lovely wife Carol and their family at Backhouse Training Stables. This partnership has proven very successful; the pair having won every reining competition they entered throughout the 2009 year. Please refer to our ACHIEVEMENTS page for full competition details.

The success Sam and Warren have achieved have landed their photo in a number of magazine publications as well as featuring on a couple of covers including the 20th Anniversary issue of the Australian Performance Horse Yearbook and the American NRHA Reiner magazine. ‘Shiney And Nu’ stood for his first breeding season during 2009/2010 at Backhouse Training Stables and his first crop of highly anticipated colts and fillies have finally arrived! The first ever foal to be sired by ‘Shiney And Nu’ arrived 11th August 2010 ~ a lovely chestnut filly out of ‘Cricketts Smart N Sassy’. The first filly was soon followed by the first colt to be sired by ‘Shiney And Nu’ in a chestnut colt out of ‘Read Deal’ foaled 3rd September 2010. Congratulations to the connections of both mares. See PROGENY for more information on these and other fantastic foals.

The response from Australian mare owners has been fantastic. Attesting to his fertility all mares bred to Sam have tested positive to being in foal at the first test. This has proven true for both live and frozen/chilled semen AI covers. The 2011 foaling season has seen the arrival of a lovely chestnut filly to Spins Spice Girl born 23rd August 2011 and there are more still to come!
